Man City transfers: Inter Milan poised for Stevan Jovetic bid
Inter Milan are ready to make the first move to land Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic, wanted by several Italian clubs.
The striker was hot property in Serie A before he made the £22million move to the Blues two years ago, and his agent Fali Ramidani has been speaking to several Serie A sporting directors.
Juventus and Roma have also shown an interest in the former Fiorentina man, but it is Roberto Mancini’s Inter who are in the driving seat.
Reports in Italy suggest City are asking £12.8m for the player, who was the odd man out when the Champions League squad needed trimming.
But Inter are hoping to land him for £10.6million – after taking him on a season’s loan.
AC Milan, who were City’s main rivals for Jovetic in 2013, have also contacted Ramidani, but Milan sources claim that is part of an ongoing turf war between the two rivals, each trying to throw a spanner in the other’s works.
Edin Dzeko is also said to be set for a move to Roma, but his agent has consistently denied he will leave City.
Javier Hernandez still set to leave Manchester United after being ruled out for a month
Javier Hernandez has been ruled out for a month with a broken collarbone - which means Manchester United’s plans to sell the striker will still go ahead.
The Mexican international has undergone surgery following the injury and faces a disrupted pre-season as he begins his recovery process.
But confirmation of the extent of the damage - suffered while playing for his country against Honduras on Wednesday - has allayed fears that Louis van Gaal would be unable to cash-in on the 27-year-old this summer.
United will welcome bids for Hernandez, who has failed to convince Van Gaal that he can be part of his long-term plans.
Liverpool and MLS side Orlando have been linked with a move for him, with United hoping to command in the region of £8m from any deal.
The concern was that an extended lay-off would prevent clubs from bidding for him.
Hernandez, who has one year to run on his contract, does not figure in Van Gaal’s plans.
United’s Dutch manager hoping to bring in at least one world class striker this summer, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane among his top targets.
Marcos Rojo has tipped Angel Di Maria to overcome a difficult first season with Manchester United because he feels his fellow Argentinian is the most talented individual at the club.
Both players are currently engaged in Copa America combat, with Argentina beating Paraguay 6-1 on Tuesday night (with two goals from Di Maria and one from Rojo) to book a place in the final. Tournament hosts Chile await in the showpiece match following their 2-1 victory over Peru.
United's record buy Di Maria contributed some memorable moments during his maiden campaign in England and is likely to be high in confidence as he continues to shine in South America.
In an interview published on the official Copa America website, Rojo declared: "For me, the player with the most talent at Manchester United is Angel.
"There are great players at the club but Angel, for me, is one of the best in the team and in the world. It has been a difficult year for him. He had some problems adapting but that’s normal. Any player coming to a new country and a new league has to adapt to the differences and that’s what happens. But I’m sure he will do really well in the months ahead."
